Holy Week at San Marcelino

April 16, 2007

Hello everyone! I've been trying to write an entry about our Holy Week Trip, but due to excitement or whatever you want to call it, my brain goes blank when I stare at the Create Post window!

We went to San Marcelino, Zambales all the way from Manila. The trip took 4 hours and we were able to reach the Rodriguez Ancestral House by the afternoon. It was my first time in 7 years to step in the house and there were no major changes - maybe except for the sari-sari store downstairs where I used to sell and eat the pastries I was selling LOL.

There I met some of my uncles and aunties. The best part is meeting my cousins (I mean my younger uncles and aunties LOL) Miguel, Isabelle, Boom and Bam - the only person who do remember me after all these years! I wasn't expecting I'd jive with them in just a snap - it was a bit intimidating at first. We even played basketball (the girls+thekids vs. Rummie and Boom) and the duo won! We were laughing the whole time because the girls were a bit gay-ish with their expressions (OMG!)

By Midnight, I found my grandfather watching this Japanese Epic series and he's on the 3rd episode already.

Good Friday - Everyone was busy for the yearly prusisyon where the people of San Marcelino walk along for two hours. I learned that the essence of this activity is like reminiscing the old days when God suffered. There were beautiful saints and the Rodriguez were the ones in charged with Sta. Veronica and St. Enchero. It was Miguel and Boom's turn to do the man thing hehe :p

There's Sta. Veronica and St. Enchero. Miguel and Boom took charge of handling the later saint.

After the procession, the people rushed to St. Enchero to get some flowers.

Black Saturday - The Rodriguez Clan went to Tito Monching's Resthouse somewhere in Cabangan, Zambales. Lolo Peping told stories about the old Rodriguez’s and how we are related to the Magsaysays (how come i don't personally know any of them?). He also showed his thoughts about the old and new Rodriguez. "Dati ako ang pinaka-bata sa mga reunion. Ngayon ako na ang pinakamatanda!"

In the afternoon, we all went to the beach to have some fun! My cousins (truth is they're my uncles and aunties haha) together with Lolo Peping and of course, Carlo Bobet went straight to the water. Carlo had much fun and the pictures can testify that:

You can really see the joy in his eyes when he saw the beach as if its his first time ever!

The waves were too strong and I was afraid to let him go farther. This naughty boy teased me and he almost drowned! Thank God I was able to pull him.. Wait.. I don't know how to swim too!

At 5pm, the youngsters went back to the beach for some picture sessions and emo moments. We took some lovely shots and here's some of them:

(Left) : Beachbums Boom, Bam, LeeAnne, Miguel and Micamyx haha

(Right): Gueco siblings Boom and Bam. If only Carlo can carry me!

(Left): Three Ladies with their KillerSmile!

(Right): We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun! Yeah right Westlife Rocks!

(Left): The River meets the Sea – I can’t believe there’s such a thing actually haha how wonderful :)

(Right): Teenagers trying to reach a specific goal – to take sexy pictures!!

Look at us, We are Image Model Wannabees! (We qualify for an endorsement deal, right?)

We were singing like little kiddos on our way back to the beach house. That moment wherein we were walking altogether singing songs from the 90’s (I don’t care who you are… If you wannabe my lover… I don’t wanna close my eyes coz we had joy, we had fun in the electric fan baby!) The rest played “touch ball” with the computer kids.. They practically wake up early in the morning and sleep at around.. 3AM! (Too Early in the morning LOL). It made me realize that I wasn’t able to enjoy my childhood much when it comes to meddling with other children. Maybe that contributed to the fact that I am a bit “anti-social” at times.

Back in the house, we ate dinner and drank margarita after :p We bought this Buy one, Take one burger from Franks (a crazy girl was screaming about pizza haha). We ate isaw, tenga, balut and penoy too! Bam and I didn’t sleep after the drinking session – we ended up talking about stuff that I think is not bloggable haha :P

EASTER SUNDAY – I woke up at 7:00AM to attend the early mass. When I was about to take a bath, I realized that I had allergies all over my body! My grandfather keeps on laughing at me because of some reasons that is not bloggable again :D

Tito Raymond and Tita Felicia invited me to go with them at the San Marcelino Dike. He is pretty much like his older brother Jojo (my beloved daddy jo). I can still remember how my dad narrated stories about his childhood when they visit the place. HE claims that every Rodriguez store you see in the municipality is his property! That moment is like talking to Joseph Rodriguez the teenage boy. My cousin Pia was scared because of the place.. It seems like we were away from civilization.. Despite of its scary environment, I love the place much and took some pictures! (to be updated.. bagal ng dial-up grrr)

We went back home to eat lunch and headed back to Dagupan. It was a very memorable holy week and we are looking forward to going back to Zambales soon. :)
