This photo was taken February of last year for the launching of the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Award in the celebration of Leprosy Week. It is such an honor to see your great grand father still being remembered by the new generation. This proves that his contribution to the world of leprosy is appreciated not only by Filipinos, but also by other leprologists abroad.
If you are thinking that his greatest contribution in my life is a cure for leprosy, well.. you are WRONG!
He gave me someone bigger than I wished for, his youngest son.
That is my grandfather fondly called by his friends and relatives as "Ping"
(I've been wanting to write this entry but my Lolo is always around so now that he's in Manila, I can finally concentrate to my tribute entry!)
"Ping", I believe is the HOTTEST LOLO ALIVE. Ooops, My Lolo is not a former matinee idol like Eddie Guittierez or an action star like Eddie Garcia.
So what makes my Ping a "HOT LOLO"?
I'm not quite sure if he's going to smile or get mad because I used the term "Hot" in this entry. Well what can I do? Totoo naman kasi eh
To my lolo peping, I made this entry because I can't tell it to you personally how much I Love You. Carlo and I are lucky because you are our grandpa. You molded me into what I am right now - determined, disciplined, loveless (it's your fault hehe just kidding) and not a spoiled brat (like what most people thought i am).
Thank you so much. Oh my, Tears are falling from my eyes (Thank God I'm alone at this very moment). Can't find the exact words to express how much I love you. Sorry if I am pasaway at times. I love you so much.. I really do.
Belated Happy Father's Day!
Note: I decided not to post something about my Dad for Father's Day because I've been writing about him for the past years and yes, his 3rd year Death Anniversary is fast approaching. My Lolo Peping deserves the limelight this day!
It’s all in the family! ahahaha. I would have to agree, tito peping is defnitely a cool kind of guy. you can really see how genuine his love is for his family… especially his grandkids.;) you’re definitely blessed to have him in your life.=)

Lolo Jose dedicated 53 years of his life to study the cure for leprosy and yes, he even stayed in Culion, Palawan and a hospital commonly called “Tala Leprosarium” is also named after him. I’m not quite sure though if they still have patients with Hansen’s Disease there. He even received the Damien Dutton award in 1970’s
Among his four children, it’s only my lolo peping who pursued a career in medicine and he is sucessful in his own right. I am very proud of him
Bam- I Love Lolo Peping’s stories about the Rodriguez’s back in their time haha magbarilan ba sa plaza ng San Marcelino
I doubt history would repeat itself within us LOL
Wow! Now that’s real cool! I had no idea that a Filipino had a hand in formulating the treatment for Hansen’s Disease (this now the preferred term because Leprosy has gone on to be sooo stigmatized over the years)!
Kudos to Dr. Ping!
