I am happy because I received another long distance call from Keisha. Two weeks ago, I went to the Annual Convention of Philippine Nurses Association Pangasinan Chapter. If you're thinking that I am a Nursing student or a nurse by profession, I'm not. I went there to show my support to receive an achievement award for my mom and at the same time to show my support to the officers and members.
One of the officers told me that they went to Cagayan de Oro last October for the premiere of the movie simply called "NARS", a movie tribute for nurses and nursing students. The movie was produced by Carl & Carl Productions and was directed by Adolfo Alix Jr. The movie stars Agot Isidro, Jodi Sta. Maria, Jon Avila, Coco Martin and Jennylyn Mercado. Also included in the cast are Jeffrey Hidalgo and my friend, Chx Alcala.
I was suppose to watch the movie in Urdaneta City the other week (they had a film showing and mini-show there) but for some personal reasons, I didn't make it there. I am hoping that there will be a chance for the movie to be shown here in Dagupan.

FIVE PEOPLE, FIVE STORIES – As earlier noted, "Nars" captures the stories of five people who all aspire to be nurses.
Jennylyn Mercado is Ela, who sets aside her own dreams and takes up nursing to alleviate her family from poverty.
Adrinne is played by Jodi Sta. Maria, whose parents are working abroad, providing her money and material things. But what she longs for are love and their presence. She wants to work in Australia to spite her absentee parents.
Noel is portrayed by Coco Martin, gay and proud of it. He intends to work in Europe and dreams of becoming a "blushing bride."
Jon Avila is Liam, whose US-based Filipino parents send him to the Philippines where nursing education is much cheaper. Liam discovers his roots and falls in love with Ela. (Jon says he identifies with nurses as both parents and a sister are nurses based in London).
Then there’s Marissa (Agot Isidro), a doctor by profession who takes up nursing to follow her family in the US. (Strange as it may sound, doctors take up nursing to work abroad and get fat pay, easily $ 4,000 to $ 5,000 a month – for a start. There are also lawyers who enroll in nursing schools).
