Panudlak

November 8, 2008

Last week, several bloggers were invited on the premiere of VSO Bahaginan’s “Panudlak”. It is a part of the Cinemanila 2008 celebration.

While I was watching the movie, i realized that there are a lot of things one should be thankful for that they were born in the Philippines despite the fact that we are tagged as one of the third world countries. I am also grateful because I am capable to access wifi, buy my own clothes and  my favorite jewelry

The film is a docu-fiction that revolves around the essence of Filipino volunteerism in Cambodia. This kind of volunteerism is likened to the process of planting, with the use of dramatic metaphor in the practice of “panudlak”, a Hiligaynon term for beliefs and rituals in the Western Visayan region of the Philippines to expect a good harvest.

Represented by two volunteers – organization & project management adviser Manuel Reyes and education adviser Debbie Satentes, the film talks about the volunteers’ passion, frustrations, dreams and problems they have encountered.

On the other hand, the intercuts of the literal and figurative meaning of planting, as well as the ritual expressed through dances and chants inspired by the Panay Suludnon tribe (which is the “stylized” and “symbolical” part that emphasizes the fiction aspect of the film) will weave all these into one.

In a hopeful note, the film ends with the volunteers expressing their persistent hopes and views on the fruits of volunteerism.

On book donations and stuff

My grandfather used to donate his used pocket books in one of the school libraries in Dagupan. I remember how some of my teacher way back in elementary and highschool used to  ask us to donate our used textbooks to charity especially those who were affected by flash floods and by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. I also remember donating some of my story books including the personalized story book given to my my uncle in the USA when I was 7 years old. Tsktsk. How I wish I didn’t give that away since the book has its sentimental value.

I realized just now that I am no longer a fan of books because I am more of a blog person now. Is that a good or bad thing? Hmmm…

Tokyo Tokyo, House Bunny and Starbucks

November 4, 2008

Last Saturday, Jehzeel, Cai and I met up at Trinoma for dinner. I was a bit lazy to get up from bed, but they insisted that I should join them. The three of us ate Maki at Tokyo Tokyo and took kulit pictures after. Later on, we decided to watch a movie instead. We picked “The House Bunny” since a blogger friend recommended it. While waiting for the screening time, the three of us went to Time Zone. Since I am not really a fan of such places, I took pictures while they were playing. I will be writing a review on the Anna Faris film soon. For some reason, the film reminded me of the best fat burners available at the malls.

We went to Starbucks afterwards and talked about my upcoming short film. I want them to play the lead roles since they looked like brothers and sisters. We also played games after so that’s it Nyok :P

The Price You Have To Pay To Be Sexy? Not Much!

November 3, 2008

KATRINA HALILI is one of our sexiest actresses in the country today. We have seen her wearing a number of  magazine wearing different styles of sexy lingerie, playing different characters on tv and movies, sing and dance in mall shows and concerts and many, many more.

What I do like about her is that she is honest with the fact that she did undergo liposuction in order to achieve that very sexy body of hers. Thanks to Belo Medical Group!

Did you know that you can possibly get the same figure in a cheaper price? Yes, BMG has an ongoing liposuction promo wherein the price of Smartlipo and Aqualipo is the same as it was 18 years ago! It is a part of their anniversary promo which started last September and will end on December 31, 2008.

Watcha waiting for? Go to http://www.belomed.com or http://www.belomed.com/blog for more details

Sports Blogs

November 2, 2008

I was browsing through hubpages when I encountered this question by one of the hubbers: Do sports blogs earn a lot of audience?

I don’t really know the answer to the question. Besides, I am not a sports blogger! I don’t even know how to shoot the ball despite my towering height and arg, i hate volleyball. I am not good at tennis or badminton either so once you see me wearing baseball gloves , most probably someone asked me to wear it for the sake of just wearing it or maybe I am playing the role of a baseball player in an indie movie LOL
