I was seven years old when I first had the chance to sit infront of the computer. There’s a floppy disk placed in a white Verbatim envelope and a pink diskette too.
When I first pressed the Power button, some random information about the computer appeared. I remember my teacher instructing us to type the "A prompt" and press the enter key.
If you want to type one letter in capital form, just press SHIFT+LETTER.
If you want to type in ALL CAPS, Just press the CAPS LOCK key.
Press F1 for help.
There are 12 Function Keys.
The first counting device ever invented was the Abacus by the chinese people. I was used to add, subtract, multiply and divide digits.
INPUT - PROCESS - OUTPUT
The CPU is the brain of the computer
The Keyboard is like a typewriter. Ermm.. the better version of the typewriter.
The Monitor is like a tv screen.
There are two types of computer memory: Random Access Memory ( or ram) and the Read Only Memory ( rom )
I am truly amazed with the typing tutor and printshop programs.
I first learned about these facts in 1994.

Fourteen years after, kids ages 7 years old up can create their own email accounts, add up friends in friendster, facebook or myspace, chat with friends via YM or MSN, send mobile updates via twitter, upload their own videos in YouTube, create and update their own blog sites and yes, they can even surf on websites that are not intended for minors.
galing galing, the first one i learned too is
Windows Logo + U + U + ENTER
Posted by kulot at June 3, 2008, 11:23 amIn 1994 they gave us silly exams on DOS commands… md, cd, rd, ren, type, format, and of course dir… stuff that I could not for the life of me get the hang off having no PC then.
I remember having to answer True to all modified True or False question because I couldn’t correct the parameters of the commands even if I recognize them to be False.
Posted by philos at June 3, 2008, 12:52 pm@joyfulchicken - how old are you, my friend? I didn’t know that function keys originally had 10 keys! Thanks for the info
@Kulot - hmmm ano mangyayari? hehe waah di ko na alam
@philos - i remember most of my classmates hate computer class but i am really interested on it (mainly because of the typing tutor games and the fact that i can make my own greeting card via printshop LOL) and most of them called me a “geek”. Ngayon naku, pag wala kang friendster or facebook hindi ka in :p
