GIGIL - MOVIE PREMIERE NIGHT

November 28, 2006

After gracing the covers and calendar of FHM in 2005 and eventually winning the "Sexiest Pinay" title at it’s yearly poll, Starstruck Graduate Katrina Halili was launched by Regal Films in a sex-comedy simply titled "GIGIL". The movie also stars Alfred Vargas, Say Alonzo, Ketchup Eusebio, Bianca King and more.

I, together with the Katrinians (Online Fan Group of KH) had our Grand Eyeball with Red as our color code and attended the Premiere Night of the movie last November 20, 2006 at SM Megamall Cinema 10.

As expected, the movie started at around 8PM (it should start at 6:30Pm-Filipino Time!) but the long hours of waiting paid of because Chiqui (Katrina’s nick) looked elegant with her Red Dress that night!

Here’s the story of the movie taken from it’s official site:

Gigil is about China (Katrina Halili) — a girl ditched by her fiancé at the altar when he realized he was gay. Crushed and brokenhearted, she decides to escape from it all and get wild in Boracay with her best friend and partner-in-crime Denoy (Say Alonzo).

She tells herself that all men are either evil or gay, so she swears them off until she meets the enigmatic hunk Felix (played by Alfred Vargas). But China sees him in a compromising situation with Don (Boom Antonio), her ex-fiancé. At the same time she overhears that he’s betrothed to Kit (Bianca King).

Not wanting Kit to experience the same thing she did, China goes out of her way to investigate Felix. And she gets the shock of her life at what she discovers…

I had fun watching the movie because of its theme and the actors of the movie were able to portray their characters well. I can’t wait to watch this again and again and again! :)

PINOY DREAM ACADEMY – Day with Iya and Friends

November 20, 2006

"Nais naming marating tuktok ng mga bituin.. hindi kami titigil"

The Pinoy Dream Academy House - where the dreaming starts for the twenty aspiring singers

The whole family arrived here in Manila Saturday Morning. The 5 hour drive from Dagupan to Manila was pretty tiring (blame it on the traffic haha).

I had the chance to take a short nap before eating Sinigang for my lunch. I wasn’t able to sleep well a night before due to my sleeping disorder.

Anyway, I did not plan anything that day. I wanted to stay at home since my friends were not available that day. Thanks to Jurica of the Sayers, I was able to watch PDA Expulsion Night – Live .. and how!

Honestly, I am not a super addict (compared to what I used to back in PBB Season 1) Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) viewer since I am actually a kapuso. I am just intrigued with the fact that a kababayan from Pangasinan was able to be included in the Top 20 Scholars of the said show. We never had a representative from our province in the First three seasons of PBB (there were hearsays thatFred and Olyn of PBBTE are from Pangasinan, but they never flaunted it.)

To make the story short, I asked Jurica if she has with her the contact numbers of the IYACHOYS (JayR Siaboc and Iya Ginez Fans Club in PEX). Thank God she has it! She gave me the number of Ate Adel and she was happy to know that I am from Pangasinan.

We met up at MC Donalds (I forgot which Mc Do haha) and she was with Ate Badette, who is actually a SAYer (Say Alonzo Fan – I am A CHXter naman hehe). We bumped into each other at PEX before so the adventure starts there J

After eating our dinner, we went straight to Chowking (don’t ask me what branch- probinsyana ako!) to pick Iya and the rest of her family and friends there. I was a bit doubtful on how to approach her since a lot of people were telling me that she’s maldita and all – yes she is haha but that shows that she’s not the typical showbiz personality who keeps on wearing that angelic mask.

We went straight to Iya’s house in .. where is it again? Haha J I was able to bond with her and the barkada. The best thing in that bonding session is that we were speaking in ilocano! :P

Iya and I had common friends from Pangasinan. One of them is my former ka-dancetroupe in school and one of them is my cousins’ soon-t-be hubby.

She talked about her struggle as an aspiring singer. She used to sing in lounges and in a local TV show in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan. She expressed her love for Jay-R and yes, she did campaign for him.

After the two-hour bonding, we went straight to the PDA Concert Hall for the 9th Expulsion Night. Goodness! The boys were HOT! J

Here are some pictures I took:

Nikki Gil is soooo pretty in person! :)

Gemma - One of the expelled scholars now a member of the singing group "Dream Girls"

It's Bond - Michelle Bond

The PDA Poster - Oops.. It's Iya Calling! :p

I did not post my pictures with them coz I looked horrible that night! :p

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ate Adel and Badette for taking good care of me even if I am a newbie in the group. Thanks also to Jurica for the contact number!

To Iya: Thanks for sharing your talent to the whole world. Salamat sa pagtaas mo sa bandila ng mga taga-Pangasinan! Keep it up!

Somebody’s Somebody

November 14, 2006

There are times wherein girls tend to daydream about a lot of things especially when they are bored and  have nothing to do. You think of your future family, career, life and partner. We tend to set qualifications and most of the time, the high standards we jot down becomes the reason why we remain single.

I have loved a number of guys and im not sure if any of them did love me back.. Well im sure in a way they did, but not as much as iv loved them. Isn't funny that we do have this longing to be with this specific person that soon breaks our heart?

We may not notice it, but we are also heartbreakers of our admirers that we put down. Having a strong personality and a good family background can make ordinary men feel insecure. When will i ever find my prince charming? When will i be somebody's somebody?

Lapida

November 5, 2006

We had this activity in the ALL STAR PBBFG where we were assigned to create our own Lapida and write a 50 words essay about it. We were also asked to jot down how we plan our death, what we want to accomplish and our last will of testament.

I had to rush with this stuff so I had a simple Lapida.

I came to realize that I am not afraid to die at all, but I don’t want to die right away!

In our visit to the cemetery last October 31, I started reminiscing the times when I would spend my All Saints Day with the whole family. My Dad always brought flowers while my mom is in-charge of the candles. We usually spend our Undas in Binalonan but since my father’s remains are in Paranaque, we have to go there to pay him a visit.

I used to light candles and share prayers with him but then he’s gone… It’s been two long years.

My Father’s death is unexpected. You can call it Sudden Death. Parang kahapon lang nilutuan ka pa niya ng almusal, tanghalian, hapunan… bukas pala nakahimlay na ang katawan niya habang kumakain ka ng tinapay at zest-o.

Siguro nga natatawa ka pero seryoso ako.

After offering some prayers, candles and flowers in the Tiongson shrine, We went to our great grand parents’ tomb. I was a bit disappointed upon seeing my Lolo Jose’s Lapida where his birth month is no longer there!

My Lolo then told me an incident that happened when he went back from Kuwait and offered expensive orchids to his parent’s remains.

Pagkalipas ng ilang minuto… Nawala! Naglaho ang mga bulaklak!

I had the following realizations:
